| Description |
45 ft 1982 Wooden Chesapeake Bay Deadrise: Offered for sale is a part of the nautical history of the Chesapeake Bay. This boat was custom built in 1982 for commercial clamming, crab dredging, net fishing, and crab and conch traps. She has a radius stern and radius pilothouse, and a unique hull chine. She is 45ft long, with a beam of 13 ft., and 18 net Ton. Her draft is 4ft 6in and she carries a 130 Gal fuel tank. She is a great pleasure/ fishing boat, is extremely stable and has an exceptionally smooth ride in rougher water. I purchased the boat in 1998 from the original owner, for pleasure use and preservation of her history. The boat appraised for $25,000.00 in May of 2005, before all of the below listed repairs and upgrades. Hull and Deck: Two of the five bulkheads have been replaced and the other 3 have been repaired and reinforced with new oak timbers. The bottom has been coated with a polymer epoxy, and has had two coats of Petite Professional paint added every other year. The hull is watertight. The sides have been stripped, prepped, and coated with West System, and painted with Z-Spar Bright White paint. The deck and deck framing are completely new, as is the engine box and cover. Engine and Steering: She is powered by a strong, well running, Detroit 8V71N 325 hp diesel engine with 6875 hrs. In addition, an Allison 2/1 transmission turns a 28”/26” screw. With plenty of low-end torque she will run about 15 to 18 mph @ 2200 rpm and 8 to12 mph @ 1600 rpm depending on the water conditions and load in the boat. All of the original engine manuals are included. Estimated Fuel consumption varies: 6.8-7.5 gallons per hour at 10-12 mph and 8.5-10 gallons per hour at 16-18 mph. All engine throttles and controls are new. The rudder is Stainless Steel and the rudder support was replaced with matching Stainless Steel. All of the hydraulic hose fittings on the (2) station hydraulic slave steering unit have been replaced, and the hydraulic steering ram and bracket have also been replaced. Mast and Mast Gear: The main dredge mast has been re-manufactured, and after painting can be installed with the boom on the next haul out. There are two (2) wooden two-sieve tackle blocks and one (1) three-sieve tackle block, which can be rebuilt at only the minimal cost of replacement wood. All of the rigging is ¾in 3 lay nylon rope. Also included are custom built, stainless steel mast travelers for the mast running rigging.
Electrical/Electronics: The boat is without electronics, except for a radar mast. A new 6 circuit electrical panel is on board but has not been installed; however, all of the wiring has been installed and is ready to be connected to the panel. The boat is Coast Guard Registered, and I have all of the documentation related to the repairs/upgrades, i.e. yard bills, maintenance, repairs and material receipts. Sale is “As Is Where Is”. Delivery is the responsibility of the buyer. Full payment is required before transfer of the vessel. To view the vessel, send a message to seller to arrange for an appointment.
